Overview

 

This qualification is designed for learners who are interested in working in the Hair and Beauty industry and those who may be wanting to progress quickly to further study in this field.  The Certificate offers a basic introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector. The course will focus on demonstrating their acquisition of basic hair and beauty services and treatments and equip learners with the skills of managing their own time and reflecting on how to improve.  This course will enable learners to use these skills within further education or traineeships/apprenticeships.

How will I learn?

Learners will be guided through the development of their professional and technical skills in both practical sessions within our beauty salon and classroom-based theory sessions.  The course focuses on the learner’s development of the basic skills required within the Hair and Beauty industry and also on the following transferable employability skills

 

• Communication

• Working with Others

• Problem Solving

• Managing Information

• Self-Management and Development

 

Tasks and assignments will be given to learners to enable them to develop, demonstrate and apply these skills.

 

What will I learn?

Learners will be required to complete five (5) units from those listed below and produce a portfolio of work which demonstrates the skills they have acquired.

 

Unit A1 – Being Organised

Unit A2 – Developing a personal progression plan

 

And then three sector specific units chosen from the following;

 

• Finding out about the Hair and beauty industry

• Responding to a hair and beauty theme

• Contributing to salon-related tasks

• Looking after customers

• Carrying out a treatment

• Demonstrating nail art

• Demonstrating make-up techniques

• Demonstrating Hair styling

How will it be delivered?

This qualification aims to develop or confirm the skills and knowledge of those who aspire to be employed in the Hair and Beauty Industry.

 

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to:

 

• Prepare to work in the Hair and Beauty Industry and undertake as range of duties.

• Establish and develop new skills useful to learners wishing to start a career path within the Hair and Beauty Industry.

• Consolidate their existing skills and knowledge within a Hair and Beauty role.
