BTEC Level 1 introductory Diploma in Land based Studies
Overview
This course is designed for students who want to the opportunity to develop a range of skills in the land-based studies sector and would like to progress on to further study.

Students will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced tutors to learn key skills in the land based sector. Students will learn skills in a variety of areas including gardening and harvesting skills in our on-site allotment and working with a range of domestic, exotic and large animal species situated on our purpose built small holding on site.

How will I learn/course delivery?
Students will have access to purpose built on-site facilities to allow hands on experience in different land based sectors. Students will have a mixture of theory based and practical based learning throughout the year.
What will I learn?
Students will cover a range of topics within different industry related units. There will be elements of practical and theory based learning throughout the year.

Method Of Assessment
Students will be internally assessed through a mix of practical and theory assignments completed throughout the academic year. Students will have the opportunity to work towards Pass, Merit or Distinction Criteria.

Future Opportunities
On completion of this course, students should have gained confidence and developed introductory practical skills to apply in the land-based sector. This course will provide a stepping stone into further education on level 2 land based sector courses like animal care, fisheries, equine or horticulture.
